Cuz I’m A Woman

Published by Jade at 1:01 pm under Sunburns

Am a full time workin’ gal nowa days. I’d been only working part time up until June 1st. Once the kids were out of school there was no reason for me to have to be off work in time to pick them up, so I extended my schedule and asked to go full time. The extra money will be beneficial, especially since I have to pay child care costs over the summer, and the extra time at work will allow me to get a few more things done on a daily basis. I can actually finish projects in one day now, rather than having to break things up over two days. I hated that. I much prefer just getting it done already.

With this new schedule, however, I don’t have time to even breathe at all. Working later puts me home after 5. There goes any sit down and relax after work for a minute time I used to have. I run through the door, throw off m work clothes, and immediately begin dinner preparations. Dinner usually ends somewhere around 7, putting clean up over around 8-ish. That’s damned near time for bed again!

Did I catch some air somewhere in between there? I do hope so or else my face is going to be a hugely distorted color of purple by now. I wouldn’t know, as stopping to look in a mirror isn’t going to happen until Saturday morning before I begin cleaning house and doing the laundry.

Sometimes I wish I were a man and I could come home from work, sit in my chair, get fed when it’s dinner time, and then sit in my chair until it’s time to go to bed. Thing is, if you gave this kind of schedule to a man, nothing would ever get done. At least not as far as the men I’ve ever known are concerned. I’m sure there are some bionic men out there these days, playing daddy, wife, cook, maid and full time worker for one reason or another. But, for the most part….it’s a woman’s world.

Oh no. I’m late for a shower.

Gotta run!

I can assure you that there are some good men that carry their part of the load. One guy i know comes to mind every time I notice that I am sitting on my ass while my wife is busy. He cooks, cleans, does dishes (no dishwasher), does the shoping, runs the finances, has two full time jobs (6-1:30pm m-f and a 2-7 every day.) and found time to take classes online! His wife pet sits and works at a pharmacy part time. She is the “lay around the house complaining that dinner isn’t done on time” kind of wife.

He inspires me to be a better hubsend. Though I don’t think much of his wife, i have decided to ask them to be the godparents of my (soon to be two) kids. Unfortunately his wife doesn’t think she could handle kids and refuses to get pregnant. Go figure. He would be the best, most attentive dad I know.

You know the old saying, “Ask a busy person if you want it to get done.” He is exactly that. Maybe I should introduce your hubsend to him for inspiration as well?

What’s funny is my husband had no problem taking care of himself those two months I was in Texas…but now that I’m here, he can’t even do anything! Like I’m the happy homemaker???  Betty Crocker has me blacklisted, for crying out loud!

@ Jeromy: I know, and y’all are married!  wink  At least my hubsend will help clean up the dinner and what not. That’s a start, eh?

@ Danalyn: Of course! I have no doubt that hubsend could totally take care of things if I wasn’t here for a spell. When we’re here, they are totally expectant. What is that?! LOL You, blacklisted by betty crocker…imagine that!  wink
