That’s MY Boy!!

picture from previous game
Yesterday’s game was fantastic! I don’t know where the energy, the hunger, or the drive came from that roared out of these boys, but it was awesome! Every single one of them fought with all of their might. They gave all of their effort and it showed. They clobbered all over those Wolverines and won the game 35-19! Wooohoooo!
My son, yes, the fruit of my loins, made it into the end zone, TWICE!
The first time, he caught a pass that was to be the extra point. He was standing in the end zone and dagnabbit if that ball didn’t come right to him for the extra point! Wowee. So exciting. I thought the kid was going to explode. No, he was saving the explosion for the next round of offensive plays.
His second time in the end zone was due to a beautiful run up the field. It looked as though the defenders were going to have him down at the 7 yard line. We all groaned a slight bit on the side lines, as it seems like this was surely going to be his run. We were all both wrong and right! He broke the tackle at the end zone and ran the ball in for a touch down! His first ever! OMG. The pride and joy and sheer excitement that child felt was radiant! I could feel it in his little dance as held the football high above his head.
I lost my voice on the sidelines from both plays, screaming at the top of my lungs:
That’s MY boy! That’s MY boy, right there, that is MY boy!!!!
I am still boiling over with pride.
My son.
Honor roll student. Student body VP and star football player.
That’s my boy.
BTW, he is going to get to go to Hooters with hubsend, of course!
This weekend was a little over booked with previous plans due to family being in from out of town, the costume party and what not – so, next Saturday will be all about TB day. Hubsend will be taking him to Hooters for lunch and football watching. Then, we are going to get back together to head out to the car show that will be up the road, and then it’s off to a nice dinner of his choice with all of us who are home in tow.
I supposed the promise of Hooters for Touchdowns was a great incentive! I may not win the mother of the year award, but seeing that kind of happiness and self pride on my child’s face is a much deeper feeling of joy than a stupid award could ever bring.

Congrats on the game!
