Not Just Fireworks

Fireworks weren’t the only things sky bound on this Fourth of July! As you can see, little “C” did some high flyin’ of his own!

We had a great time with the Sicilian Princess and her family yesterday. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day than a good ol’ all American bbq and gathering. We ate great food (picking at my potato salad as I write this! yum!) and laughted a lot. It was so nice and relaxing.

When the time was right, everyone climbed up on the roof to catch the fireworks show going on at the Peoria Sports Complex not too far away. I stayed on the ground, as I don’t handle heights real well and refuse to get on the roof. It was cool, I could see some.

Apparently, the display that was scheduled to go down at Steele Indian School Park in downtown Phoenix had to start an hour early due to the extremely windy conditions the storm brought through the state. Even as the show was going, embers were landing in unexpected places, forcing them to postpone, and eventually cancel, the grand finale of the show!

The rest of the night was filled with beautiful lightning shows all over the place. Everywhere you looked, the sky would light up with huge, rambling bolts of lightning. It was a great night for watching the skies!

I posted some pics on flickr of the storm and the festivities, check them out if ya want.  For me, it’s time to run to the grocery store then back home to finish the ungodly amounts of laundry that are calling my name.

meh.

I’m not a ‘Twitter’ person but this photo here is lovely – full of life, a great shot!

Ah, thanks for that. I didn’t see any fireworks. Still had fun, though.

I’m glad you’ve got a working dryer now. Hope it cools down for you, just for a night or two!
