It Was A Bad Hump Day in Avon

And it wasn’t much better in Roseville either!
See, we headed out to take the kids to the Warren County Fair in Roseville. They touted on the radio that it was kid’s day on Sunday. Well, w00t! we have a houseful of kids right? What more perfect thing than to take them to kid’s day at the county fair.
BIG FAT PFFFFTTTTT!
Whatever. What a freakin’ bust that shit was.
Fair? Yeah, there wasn’t one. We got the kids, headed out to the fair grounds, and wouldn’t ya know it if that fair wasn’t already packed up and movin’ on? Seriously? It was late afternoon for cryin’ out loud! One day of fair, and not even a whole day at that. Am feelin’ a might ripped off by the midwest county fairs. Just sayin’.
So, we decided to go on a little detour outside of Abingdon to a little town called Avon and there they were. THE best entertainment of the day! The Camel-Llamas. Double humpers as they were. One was even having a bad hump day as his humps wouldn’t stand up straight and kept lofting over one to one side and the other to the opposite. We found it quite funny. It was a bad hump day. It wasn’t even Wednesday. I know, we are dumb.
Ya gotta find joy in the little things in life.

Like the white camel who thunk he needed to kiss mamma. Ya. That would be me. I was all kinds of up close and personal in his grill, taken his pic as he approached us. He kept coming closer and closer and I kept shooting. So? Is what I was thinking. Of course, I have a pretty good lens so it’s kinda hard sometimes to see exactly how close or far away I am from any given subject. That works well when I am shooting macros of spiders and what not, but when a camel is all up in your face, you might want to be aware of his exact whereabouts, yanno? Well, anyhow, I am shooting and shooting and J is like “OMG, um, honey, you might want to pull back cuz he is going to EAT THE CAMERA!” I didn’t pay much attention to him until the panic in his voice rose to undeniable levels. It was then that I pulled the camera back from my eye and saw that the camel was right on top of my face! Oh lord. What a surprise. He was trying to kiss me. Sweet thing. Ha ha ha ha!
When the camel near the fence was eating his grass by the fence line and we approached him, he decided to pose for the camera making all kinds of silly faces! The kids wanted their picture with the crazy camel, so I had them stand close to where he was but not close enough that he could get them in his mouth or anything. I thought they were going to wet their pants giggling at the silly critter!

So, ya see, who needs a county fair that doesn’t even exist when you have Camel-Llamas in your neck of the woods! They are real, with bad hump days and all and can bring about a grin even after the worst disappointments in life!
