...... some people say they aren’t referring to you in particular, and that you in particular should know that they aren’t referring to you in particular when they are referring to unsavory persons?


Just so ya know, I will always think you are referring to me in some veiled sort of way and wonder if I was supposed to pick up on it or not, and then I will wonder and worry and fret and cry because I didn’t pick up on that something that I was supposed to when said person referred to unsavory persons. Then I will torture myself with the “should I” or “shouldn’t I” situation for weeks, maybe even months, because I’m not that good with the beating-around-the-bush-veiled-references sort of thing.

I don’t play the ‘read between the lines’ game. I’m straight forward, and therefore I look for and respond to the straight forward.

So, if you’re speaking to me, which I believe you are right now, just say so.

If you’re not, just say so.

If you’re a person who speaks in veiled languages guarded by that damned bush I’m supposed to be peeking around cuz you’re beating around it, or one who expects me to read between the lines even though the lines are so squished together that my aging eyes couldn’t read between them even if I were good at it, just say whatever it is you want to say - minus the veil.

I’m a big girl yanno.

In the mean time, I believe it is I to whom you are referring and therefore will remain in my questionable hole for an undetermined amount of time, wondering, worrying, fretting and probably crying. But, that’s my problem. Not yours.

It’s a bad habit. Blame TWFKAM, but this is how I’ve lived my entire life and while I no longer have a mother to put me through these things, sometimes old habits are hard to break. It’s also hard to teach an old dog new tricks, especially tricks of the look-behind-the-bush-and-between-the-lines variety.

Call me high maintenance, but I am what I am and I ain’t no more.
